The Mets released their spring training schedule Tuesday and hope three of their younger players, Daniel Murphy, Fernando Martinez and Nick Evans are healthy for when it starts.
All three visited team physician Dr. Struan Coleman Monday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. Murphy was diagnosed with a strained left hamstring, unrelated to his knee injury from last year. An MRI exam of Martinez’s right knee showed mild arthritis, which had already been seen and no further injury. Martinez, who has been hobbled by injuries, will wear a brace and continue to work on strengthening the knee before resuming baseball activities. As for Evans, he continues to rehab from a September shoulder injury and he is swinging a bat pain-free.
