Mickey Callaway is now open to letting closer Edwin Diaz throw as many as two innings, partly because the manager is less comfortable with the consequences of losses.

“We don’t want to lose some of our guys, so we’re trying to do everything we can to get back in this thing and keep our team intact,” said Callaway, referring to the trade deadline. “I think we’re always open to doing everything we can to win. What makes sense and what’s going to keep guys healthy.”

Edwin Diaz earned his 22nd save during Tuesday’s 5-2 victory and has converted each of his past six chances

The Mets have a 2.76 ERA since the All-Star break.

Jeff McNeil recorded his 38th multi-hit game of the season.

Pete Alonso drew a career-high three walks.
