Mets not seeking a trade
From JOEL SHERMAN
As of 1 p.m., Met officials were growing seriously downcast about the possibility of making a trade today. One team official cautioned that GM Omar Minaya (pictured) is an aggressive type and that deals could still come together quickly if the prices changed. But the general mood of the organization was that the prices had not come down enough for the Mets to make a move. Minaya’s mantra for weeks has been that he would not trade multiple, well-regarded prospects even for the corner outfield bat or reliever he craved. Minaya feels that the Johan Santana deal in the offseason had left the organization in a vulnerable state moving forward if they did not resuscitate the system.
