After clearing waivers, the Mets optioned first baseman Nick Evans to Triple-A Buffalo, where he will anchor the Bisons’ lineup.
Following a rough 2009 campaign, Evans bounced back nicely last year, hitting a combined .300 with 23 home runs and 80 RBI between Double-A Binghamton and Buffalo. The 25-year-old also saw 36 at-bats in the big leagues, going 11-for-36 (.306) with a home run and five RBI.
