The Mets bullpen took another hit Wednesday, as Reed Garrett was placed on the 15-day IL with right elbow inflammation.

It came on the same day veteran right-hander Phil Maton joined the team after being acquired in a trade from the Rays on Tuesday.

Garrett has had an up-and-down season, emerging as a solid option out of the pen — and was one of the options filling in as closer when Edwin Diaz was suspended — but he gave up three runs in Tuesday’s win over the Nationals at Citi Field.

The team also optioned right-hander Eric Orze to Triple-A Syracuse and recalled lefty Danny Young from Syracuse in an attempt to fix the heavily taxed pen.
