The Mets re-signed left-handed reliever Scott Rice to a minor league deal late Wednesday night.

Rice had a 5.93 ERA in 32 games last season before suffering an elbow injury that ended his season. Rice, who required surgery on the elbow, pitched just 13²/₃ innings.

In 2013, Rice, a favorite bullpen piece for manager Terry Collins, pitched in 73 games, posting a 3.71 ERA in 51 innings.
