The Royals have spoken to the Mets about R.A. Dickey, an industry source confirmed to The Post’s Ken Davidoff yesterday, but there is no evidence of momentum for a trade between the two teams.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson and his top lieutenants are expected to wait until a full picture of the NL Cy Young Award winner’s trade value crystalizes at next week’s winter meetings before deciding whether to deal Dickey in the absence of a contract extension.

The Royals are reportedly offering minor league prospects for Dickey. But with gaping holes in the outfield and at catcher, the Mets would prefer to secure major-league ready talent if they trade the knuckleballer.

The Mets’ first preference remains signing Dickey to a contract extension. Dickey has been offered a two-year extension, but recently gave the Mets a counter-proposal.

A club source recently said a contract extension would “almost definitely” eliminate the possibility Dickey is traded this offseason. The team last month picked up Dickey’s 2013 option, worth $5 million.
