The Mets added some pitching depth with the minor-league signing of reliever Miguel Batista on Tuesday.

The Mets assigned the 40-year-old to Triple-A Buffalo. Batista started the year with the Cardinals and posted a 4.60 ERA in 26 appearances before being released June 22.

Batista has played with the Pirates, Marlins, Cubs, Expos, Royals, Diamondbacks, Blue Jays, Mariners, Nationals and Cardinals in his 17-season major league career.
