The Mets signed utility infielder Omar Quintanilla to a minor-league contract, the team announced Tuesday.
Quintanilla has been invited to spring training to try to earn a spot on the major-league roster.
The 30-year-old was a first-round draft pick of the A’s in 2003, and played 216 games with the Rockies between 2005-2009. In 2010, Quintanilla was suspended 50 games for the use of a performance enhancing drug.
Quintanilla played in 11 games for the Rangers last season, getting one hit in 22 at-bats (.045).
