David Stearns is staying busy replenishing the Mets’ roster.

After coming to an agreement with right-hander Luis Severino on Wednesday night, the Mets added to their lineup depth by landing infielder Joey Wendle on a one-year, $2 million deal plus performance bonuses, The Post’s Joel Sherman reported.

The versatile, left-handed hitting Wendle was an All-Star with the Rays in 2021 but is coming off a rough season with the Marlins. The 33-year-old hit .212 with a .554 OPS in 112 games this year.

After the Mets non-tendered Luis Guillorme, who was projected to make $1.7 million in arbitration (per MLB Trade Rumors), Wendle could essentially fill his role on the roster.

He spent 2023 as a full-time shortstop but has played 200-plus games at both second base and third base and is regarded as a quality fielder.

In parts of eight seasons as a major leaguer, Wendle has hit .263 with a .698 OPS and 61 steals. The best season of his career came in 2018 with the Rays, when he hit .300 with a .789 OPS.

As an All-Star in 2021, Wendle hit .265 with a .741 OPS, but after the season the Rays traded him to the Marlins. The Delaware native was still solid in 2022 before seeing his offensive production decline this year.

With the Mets, Wendle could offer a steady hand off the bench while potentially chipping in at third base as Brett Baty and Ronny Mauricio try to establish themselves there in the majors.

The Mets are more solidified at shortstop and second base with Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil, but Wendle joins Zack Short (claimed off waivers from the Tigers this month) as infield depth.

Like Guillorme, Wendle also happens to hit without batting gloves.

The deal with Wendle came shortly after Severino and the Mets agreed to a one-year, $13 million contract to set Stearns’ offseason plan into motion, with more moves to come.
