WASHINGTON — As expected, the Mets are keeping 20-year-old outfielder Fernando Martinez for the time being. With Ryan Church coming off the DL tomorrow, the club designated journeyman Emil Brown for assignment after tonight’s 7-1 loss to the Nationals instead of sending Martinez back to Triple-A Buffalo.
