The Mets' Game 1 9-0 loss to the Dodgers in the NLCS marked the most lopsided shutout loss in playoff history for the franchise. The previous mark was 6-0, most recently set in the 2022 wild card round against the Padres. It was also the eighth time they've been shut out in a playoff game.

Carlos Mendoza wouldn't say that Kodai Senga will start Game 5. He told reporters it depends how he bounces back. There are a lot of other variables at play, too. Senga didn't have it tonight. Lasted four outs and gave up three runs. Was very wild, walking four hitters.

Mets lose Game 1, 9-0. It was ugly. They didn't hit, didn't pitch well, made mistakes on base-paths and in the field. Kodai Senga had nothing. Jack Flaherty was brilliant. Dodgers have now thrown three straight shutouts in the playoffs. Mets have to respond tomorrow. Sean Manaea will be on the mound.

Jose Butto's shaky postseason continues. A three-run Mookie Betts double has made it 9-0. Butto gave up a hit and walked a guy. He's had a really poor postseason.

Mets finally had the makings of a rally, but Jesse Winker was caught between second and third on a Jose Iglesias single. He hesitated after turning second and was thrown out. Mets go scoreless and still trail, 6-0. They do finally have a hit, at least.

It's now 6-0 Dodgers. David Peterson is getting crushed in the 4th. RBIs from Tommy Edman, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman. It's a bloodbath. Mets look outclassed.

Jack Flaherty walked two hitters in the fourth, but the Mets couldn't score. Starling Marte had a chance with two on and two out, but flied out to right. The Mets still don't have a hit. 3-0, Dodgers.

Trailing 3-0 in the 3rd, the Mets have gone to David Peterson. So now they are likely not going to have until Game 4. A bit surprising they would go to him down 3-0.

Kodai Senga has been lifted after 4 outs. It's 3-0 Dodgers after an RBI single from Shohei Ohtani. Senga walked four and allowed two hits in 1.1 innings. Reed Garrett coming in.

The Mets plan to start Kodai Senga has backfired so far. He walked three straight Dodgers and allowed a two-run single to Max Muncy. Senga wasn't close in those walks, bouncing pitches. He threw 23 pitches and 17 balls.

The Mets went down in order in the first inning. Jack Flaherty needed only 14 pitches to retire the first three batters. Francisco Lindor grounded out, Marl Vientos struck out and Brandon Nimmo lined out to shortstop. Here comes Kodai Senga.

Derek Jeter gave the Mets credit. He said on the Fox pre-game show that their magic is for real. And, yet, he picked the Dodgers to win the series in 6. Just another reason for Mets fans to dislike the former Yankees star shortstop. Alex Rodriguez, meanwhile, went with the Mets.
