They may drive their fan base crazy and drive when they shouldn’t but the New York Thumbos are on fire. The Mets had won four straight heading into their Thursday night game at Ida-soaked Citi Field.
They travel to D.C. this weekend and Rich Hill (6-7, 4.11 ERA) throws Friday night. Hill hasn’t won in a while (0-2, last 7) but the Nats haven’t won in a while either. Washington has lost five in a row and really weren’t that good before Max Scherzer, Trae Turner and Kyle Schwarber departed for greener pastures. Sean Nolin (0-2, 6.57 ERA) has made 10 MLB starts, winning once. Amazin’s are 25-40 on the road but this may be a perfect spot for Hill to pick up a W. Play 20 units on the Mets.
The A’s nearly squandered an 8-1 lead but held on to defeat the Tigers 8-6. Jed Lowrie homered. Frankie Montas went 6 ²/₃ for the win. Back-to- back victories take us to -1,195 salbandos.
