On perhaps the one moment where the Phillies could have gotten back in the game, Carlos Mendoza made a pivotal decision to trust his starter.

He left Sean Manaea, who eventually got out of the inning unscathed, in when he had Reed Garrett warming in the sixth inning.

"Once he got Harper there, I thought he had the momentum back" Mendoza said.

Relentless Mets pound their way back into NLDS lead

The Mets moved one win away from punching their ticket to the National League Championship Series. 

Home runs from Pete Alonso and Jesse Winker, along with RBIs by Starling Marte and Jose Iglesias helped lift the Mets to a 7-2 Game 3 win over the Phillies in the NLDS. 

Sean Manaea pitched seven innings while giving up just three hits and striking out six batters in the playoff victory.

The Mets looked like the real deal in their 7-2 Game 3 victory against the Phillies.

They now take a 2-1 NLDS lead and are one win away from advancing.

Bryce Harper gave the Phillies a glimmer of hope. He lined a single into right field scoring Edmundo Sosa.

Castellanos then drove in another run bringing the deficit to four runs. Alec Bohm then lined out to center field for the third out.
