No Lemon Law needed, Steve Cohen. The Mets owner had to be thinking he had bought a lemon after the Amazin’s hit a couple of sour patches out of the gate, but they appear to be heading in the right direction after sweeping a doubleheader from the Phillies on Tuesday.
The Mets beat the Phillies 5-1 in Game 3 on Wednesday, and the finale will be played Thursday, if the rain holds off. Zach Eflin (0-0, ERA 3.46) has made two starts, both against the Braves, allowing a total of five runs over 13 innings.
Jacob deGrom (0-1, ERA 0.64) picked up where he left off last year (and the year before that and the year before that and …) in his first two starts. He shut out Philly for six innings, then limited Miami to one run over eight innings in a hard-luck loss. Mets have a loooong history of not hitting for Jake. Hoping Eflin can keep Philly in the game and pull the upset. 10 units on the Phillies.
Lemons? I’ve had a few. The latest, Wednesday. Joe Musgrove finally allowed a run, just one, but left after four long innings. The Pirates took advantage, the Padres’ bats were silenced and the Bucs popped the Pods 5-1. Down -725 limoncellos.
