The Yankees face the Mets at Citi Field for Game 2 of the 2026 Subway Series.

The Bronx Bombers grabbed the first game, 5-2, behind a brilliant outing from young ace Cam Schlittler.

The loss came with extra hurt for the Mets, with starter Clay Holmes suffering a fractured fibula on a comebacker that will sideline him for a “long time,” according to manager Carlos Mendoza.

Carlos Rodon undone by control issues in second rocky outing since Yankees’ return

By Dan Martin

Command issues in a pitcher who underwent elbow surgery in the offseason in just his second start of the year are hardly unexpected.

But through his first two outings, Carlos Rodón hasn’t looked like the All-Star he was in 2025 with the Yankees.

After walking five batters in just 4 ¹/₃ innings in his season debut against the Brewers last Sunday, the left-hander was far from sharp in Saturday’s 6-3 loss to the Mets at Citi Field.

And while the three walks — and three runs — in just 3 ²/₃ innings were not pretty, Rodón made his worst mistake of the night as a fielder.

Luke Weaver shares that he talked to Clay Holmes after his performance tonight:
