The Mets had doubled down Tuesday afternoon on their intentions to start Matt Harvey on three days’ rest Wednesday at Citi Field against the Phillies.

After the Mets’ 9-1 loss to the Phillies, manager Terry Collins announced the team had “reconsidered” and Harvey instead will start Thursday against the Reds on normal rest.

“[Pitching coach Dan Warthen] and I and [general manager] Sandy [Alderson] talked about it and we had possible weather issues popping up and we certainly don’t want that to be a factor so we just said we’ll push it back,” the manager said.

Alderson had not been concerned about Harvey pitching on short rest after throwing 70 pitches in two innings Saturday.

“We don’t think there’s a significant medical risk to him at this point,” he said before the game. “His success or failure is more about his velocity, command and getting his confidence on the mound back.”

Collins said he did not yet know who would start Wednesday. Tommy Milone, who came on in relief of Harvey in Saturday’s clunker, could be a candidate.

The Mets may have money to spend and positions to address this offseason, but one area that could already be settled is catcher.

Travis d’Arnaud and Kevin Plawecki are handling the backstop duties and Alderson said he feels “pretty good about those two” heading into 2018.

“At that position, I think it would be difficult for us to find a pair that we like appreciably better,” he said.

After entering 2017 with a glut of pitching that has since withered away, Alderson isn’t ruling out acquiring a starter in the offseason.

“I think if we were able to find a Bartolo [Colon] type, who fits in the three-four spot and semi-guarantees 180-200 innings, that would probably be something that would stabilize our rotation,” he said.
