Francisco Alvarez’s return to game action produced further questions about his health.

Rehabbing a sprained ligament in his right thumb, Alvarez got drilled by a pitch on his left hand and removed from his start for Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday.

After the Mets beat the Phillies 6-0 at Citi Field to complete a three-game sweep, manager Carlos Mendoza had little information other than Alvarez was receiving evaluation on his left pinky.

Alvarez started at catcher and went 1-for-2 before departing the game.

He is attempting to play through a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in the right thumb that will eventually need surgery.

Hand injuries have plagued the 23-year-old Alvarez during his brief career.

He opened this season on the IL after undergoing surgery for a broken hamate bone in his left hand.

Last season, he missed seven weeks after undergoing surgery for a torn UCL in his left thumb.

Finding the “easier” lane for struggling Ryan Helsley has proved difficult for the Mets.

Mendoza indicated Wednesday that he’s looked for lower-leverage spots to deploy the reliever, but the tight nature of the team’s games lately hasn’t helped his mission.

Helsley on Tuesday surrendered two earned runs in the eighth inning, retiring just one batter, allowing the Phillies to tie the game.

The former Cardinals closer has a 10.38 ERA in 11 appearances with the Mets.

“We’re playing high-leverage games pretty much every night and you are trying to match up as much as possible, trying to give him an easier lane,” Mendoza said before the game. “There’s not an easy lane against that [Phillies] lineup.”

Mendoza said there isn’t an obvious answer to correcting Helsley, who has allowed 13 hits in 8 ²/₃ innings with the Mets.

The manager noted the number of “comfortable” swings that have been taken against Helsley’s 100-mph heat and “non-competitive” pitches made that have hurt his results.

Huascar Brazobán was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse after an MRI exam on his oblique/side came back “clean,” according to Mendoza.

The right-hander allowed one earned run on three hits in a relief appearance Tuesday.

The Mets recalled Kevin Herget from Syracuse to fill the spot.

It’s possible Herget is only keeping the seat warm until Friday, when Jonah Tong will be called up for his major league debut.

Tylor Megill is scheduled Thursday for a potential final rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse.

The right-hander is expected to throw 75-80 pitches.

He could be a candidate for joining the Mets next week — rosters expand Monday.

The Mets’ 10-game home winning streak against the Phillies, after Wednesday’s win and including last year’s NLDS, ties the franchise record against their NL East foe.

The Mets also won 10 straight home games against the Phillies during the 1984 and ’85 seasons.

In 23 August games entering the day, the Mets were 73-for-204 (.358) with a .415 on-base percentage with runners in scoring position.

Both numbers were tops in the major leagues.
