Kodai Senga was scheduled to make a rehab start for Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday before being scratched with what the team termed ulnar nerve irritation in his upper right arm.
The situation is minor enough that Senga played catch Tuesday and may again Wednesday.

Senga said through an interpreter that the irritation occurred after he received treatment on a non-throwing day, and both he and Mendoza said the right-hander could be pitching in a game this week, as his rehab assignment was not stopped.
Still, Senga hasn’t pitched for the Mets since April and has made just five mostly terrible starts for them this season after a rough second half last year that was marred by a hamstring strain.

Without Senga, the Mets have only Tuesday’s starter, Freddy Peralta, Christian Scott and Nolan McLean as even passable starters and have had to rely on openers on a regular basis in what’s been a horrific season in Queens.
“It’s frustrating,” Senga said. “Even though I’m healthy, I have not performed as I would like to.”
