Complaints about ESPN’s “SportsCenter” Top 10? Michael Wilbon will fight the good fight, at least for his native Chicago.

Shortly after Cubs rookie David Bote

with two strikes and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Nationals 4-3 Sunday night, “SportsCenter” ranked it as the No. 9 play of the night in its Top 10 segment.

That didn’t fly with Wilbon, the ESPN/PTI commentator and Cubs fan, who made his feelings known on the snub and the network’s supposed East-Coast bias.

“Nice job by SportsCenter; my dear producers put Cubs walk off Grand Slam at No. 9 of Top Ten plays,” Wilbon tweeted Sunday night. “If same ending had involved Yanks or Sawx Bristol would have commissioned a 30-for-30 on it in time for Get Up…”

By Monday morning’s edition of “SportsCenter,” the program had righted its wrong in Wilbon’s eyes. Bote’s walk-off claimed the No. 1 spot while a game-winning save and assist from DC United’s Wayne Rooney got bumped to No. 2.

Most Cubs fans likely would have been satisfied enough by the thrilling walk-off, but Wilbon made sure his employer also gave it the national recognition it deserved.
