Miguel Andujar’s replacement at third base just received some high praise from a world leader on Saturday.
Gio Urshela, who went 3-for-4 with a double and two singles in the Yankees’ 9-2 win over the Royals at the Stadium, received a congratulatory tweet from Colombian president, Iván Duque.
“Congratulations to our compatriot Giovanni Urshela for his outstanding performance in the game that his @Yankees team from #NuevaYork beat the @Royals of #KansasCity in the American Baseball League,” the president tweeted. “Magnificent presentation of the pelotero of Cartagena, who hit a double and two singles.”

Urshela has taken advantage of his opportunity for however long it lasts. He’s hitting .321 (9-for-28) in his 12 games with the Bombers.
