The snow flurries and brisk 32-degree temperature in Detroit made for an interesting Opening Day first inning of the Tigers-Indians game – particularly for Miguel Cabrera.
In the veteran first baseman’s first at-bat of the 2021 season, Cabrera ripped an opposite field home run just inches over the yellow line in right field to give Detroit an early 2-0 lead over Cleveland.
But Cabrera evidently didn’t realize he smacked his 350th homer with the Tigers as he slid into second base. The hit off of reigning American League Cy Young winner Shane Bieber had ricocheted off the small green fencing above the wall, which left Cabrera unsure if the ball cleared.
