CLEVELAND — Adriana Aviles, the 4-year-old daughter of Indians player and former Middletown (N.Y) High School performer Mike Aviles, threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Thursday night’s game against the Yankees.

Adriana, who was joined by twin sister Maiya, is being treated at the Cleveland Clinic for leukemia — which she refers to as “sicky bugs.”

Aviles was behind the plate for the pitches, and the Yankees and Indians players watched from the top step of the dugouts.

“The only way you’d know she has anything is because she doesn’t have hair,” Aviles said, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. “She looks totally normal, runs around. It’s like you have to tell her to sit still. Like, ‘Hey, you need to rest. It’s important for you.’ But she’s just like, ‘No, I’m OK. I’m fine.’

“I appreciate all the thanks, all the prayers and everybody who genuinely cares,” Aviles added. “The fan base has been unbelievable. It’s made it very easy for me to come to the field every single day.”
