After refusing to endorse the status of the Mets’ coaching staff following the team’s disastrous road trip yesterday, GM Omar Minaya said today that no changes would be made before tomorrow’s game.

When asked in an email if it was true that no changes were in the works for the coaching staff, Minaya said: “True.”

So hitting coach Howard Johnson’s job is safe, for today, anyway.

Minaya’s lack of a move today doesn’t change the fact that clearly everyone is on notice now as they prepare to start a six-game homestand tomorrow against the Cardinals, when the Mets will try to put the 2-9 West Coast trip behind them.
