The only mention of the minor leagues in today’s Post comes within this notebook by my friend and colleague George King. It isn’t an insignificant note, either, as George writes that one of the Yankees’ top prospects, catcher Gary Sanchez, missed a week of workouts in order to undergo some tests on his heart, though nothing serious was discovered.
Sanchez was brilliant in his debut in pro ball last year, hitting .353 with six homers and 36 RBI in 31 games with the GCL Yankees before a late promotion to the Staten Island Yankees, where he hit .278 with two homers and six RBI in 16 games.
