The Yankees recalled Juan Miranda and inserted the left-handed power hitter into tonight’s lineup as designated hitter against the Rays.

Utilityman Kevin Russo was sent down.

Miranda was batting .291 with 10 homers and 25 RBIs in 49 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Earlier this season with the Yankees, he hit .217 with two homers and seven RBIs in 51 plate appearances.
