At some point, Met reliever Scott Schoeneweis is expected to speak with Major League Baseball regarding an ESPN.com report that said he received multiple steroids shipments in 2003 and 2004 while with the White Sox.

“We are looking into it,” an MLB spokesman said. Yesterday, Met GM Omar Minaya said he hadn’t talked to his lefty since the report came out on Monday. When asked about Schoeneweis, he said he would defer to MLB first.

Minaya said no steroid red flags emerged with Schoeneweis when the Mets considered signing him last offseason. The reliever has two years and $7.2 million left on his three-year deal.

It’s the second straight offseason in which the Mets have had to deal with a reliever and steroids. Last winter, Guillermo Mota tested positive.
