One day after GM Omar Minaya said prized prospect Daniel Murphy could be called up soon, the Mets promoted the young infielder to Triple-A New Orleans.

Murphy had been hitting .308 with 13 homers and 67 RBIs for Double-A Binghamton.

Murphy is the second top prospect promoted by the Mets this week. Left-hander starter Jon Niese also was elevated to New Orleans after a successful stint in Binghamton.
