Dan Murphy is racking up his frequent flier miles.
One night after being called up from Double-A Binghamton and going 1-for-4 in his Triple-A debut with New Orleans, Murphy has been promoted once again – this time to join the Mets for tonight’s game in Houston.
Mets VP of Player Development Tony Bernazard said Murphy would be replacing Marlon Anderson, who will be placed on the disabled list tonight.
Murphy’s spot on the New Orleans roster will be taken by infielder Ramon Martinez, whose been acquired from the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas. In 779 career major league games across 10 seasons and with five teams (Giants, Cubs, Tigers, Phillies and Dodgers), Martinez has hit .265 with 29 home runs and 235 RBI.
Martinez will start at second base tonight for New Orleans.
