TAMPA – On his way out of Legends Field yesterday, Joe Torre told The Post he hadn’t heard from Bernie Williams after calling him Sunday. Later, GM Brian Cashman said he hadn’t received a call from Williams or agent Scott Boras.

According to Cashman, the silent lines are a strong indication Williams’ 16-year career is over. Offered a minor league contract with no promises of making the team, Williams hasn’t spoken to a Yankees official since last Wednesday, when he returned a call to Torre. With the first full-squad workout today at Legends Field, Williams is just about out of time.

“I wish he would accept our opportunity to accept our offer of a non-roster invite and come in and fight for [a roster spot],” Cashman said. “The non-roster situation is not something I offer out of disrespect. It appears he has made his decision. I am assuming at this stage he is not coming.

“The non-roster invite must not be interesting to him. I called Bernie several times before I got down here, and he never returned the call. I wish we could have further dialogue with him, but I made several phone calls after we returned from China and Japan and wanted to have a sit down with him but he never returned the calls. That’s all I can do.”

Sunday, Jorge Posada said Williams hasn’t returned his calls either, and took that as a sign Williams doesn’t want to tell his friend he isn’t coming to camp.

Cashman refused to divulge if there is a deadline on Williams accepting the offer, but did say Williams gets a bit of leeway because of what he has meant to the organization.

“Obviously, because who he is, if he needs a little extra time to decide . . .,” Cashman said of the Yankees icon who will someday have a plaque in Monument Park and his No. 51 retired.
