I am hearing the faint drumbeat of excuses beginning to alibi away this Yankee season. I am hearing exoneration statements for Joe Girardi and his team because they have had so much go wrong for them. And that is just nonsense. Not only because they are the $200 million-plus Yanks, who can take on Xavier Nady, Damaso Marte and Ivan Rodriguez in midstream to try to cover up those blemishes. But because pretty much every team has a shipload of problems.
