Here’s an argument in favor of the National League adopting the DH.

After 30 games and more than a month, the Mets are still waiting to see one of their pitchers record a hit. The team’s staff has gone 0-for-51, setting a new major league record for the longest season-opening drought since 1900, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

While Bartolo Colon’s foibles have been the most brutal — and amusing — to watch, with six strikeouts in nine at-bats, the team’s other four starters have all struck out in at least 40 percent of their at-bats.

Jenrry Mejia is the worst offender, accumulating an 0-for-15 line. Dillon Gee is 0-for-12 and Zack Wheeler is 0-for-8, while Jon Niese’s staff-high four walks, along with an 0-for-4, give him a surprising .500 on-base percentage.
