What else could go wrong?

Tim Tebow left Thursday’s Mets Double-A contest with reported discomfort in his right hand/wrist.

Tebow singled and scored the game-winning run for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in their 3-2 win over the Trenton Thunder. The dual-athlete went 1-for-2 along with a walk and a run scored before exiting the game. According to WBNG’s Tyler Feldman, Tebow was expected to have an MRI exam on Friday morning.

After his at-bat in the bottom of the seventh inning, Tebow clenched his right hand into a fist multiple times. The 30-year-old approached Rumble Ponies manager Luis Rojas after his third plate appearance to alert him of the discomfort in his hand/wrist.

“Tim [Tebow] came out of the game not feeling good after a swing,” said Rojas. “He’s going to get checked by the doctor [Friday] morning, and we have to see how his status is going to be. It’s a hand/wrist thing. I think there was one swing where he let go the bottom hand and the top hand finished his swing. He said that he felt something there. We don’t know right now.”

With the Mets floundering, there has been talk of calling Tebow to the majors this season, perhaps in September when rosters are expanded.

While signing autographs during pregame, people noticed Tebow had tape over his right hand.

“[The tape] had nothing to do with anything,” Rojas said. “He actually had a blister and the padding of that blister needed the tape.”

The outfielder is currently hitting .273 through 84 games at Double-A this season. With six home runs, 36 RBI and 32 runs scored, Tebow earned a spot in the league’s All-Star Game earlier this month.
