Omar: Willie safe for now
Omar Minaya just spoke with reporters here in Denver tonight and gave Willie Randolph another vote of confidence despite the team’s 22-23 record. Minaya appeared to make clear that Randolph would not be fired this weekend, not matter how the Mets do against the Rockies. “Willie Randolph is our manager, he has my support and he has our ownership’s support,” Minaya said. “I’m here to support Willie. We believe he can get this team on track and get this team playing to its capabilities.” Minaya added that Randolph will meet with Mets owners Fred and Jeff Wilpon when the team gets back to New York next week.
