It will be a case of the pupil taking on the teacher this afternoon when John Maine (pictured) takes on former Met Tom Glavine here in Atlanta in the first game of a day-night doubleheader. Maine was one of Glavine’s prime understudies the past two seasons, but friendship will be an afterthought as Maine tries to keep the momentum from last weekend’s Subway Series sweep alive for the 22-19 Mets at Turner Field.

Luis Castillo is back in the No. 2 hole for the Mets after spending the Subway Series at the bottom of their lineup. Willie Randolph also said Brian Schneider will catch Game 1, while Ramon Castro will be behind the plate for Game 2.

Those are the only significant developments in a Randolph lineup that will look like this for Game 1:

Jose Reyes SS

Luis Castillo 4

David Wright 3B

Carlos Beltran CF

Ryan Church RF

Moises Alou LF

Carlos Delgado 1B

Brian Schneider C

John Maine RHP (5-2, 2.81)

The 22-21 Braves, who have been beset by injuries to their pitching staff this season, are going with this order as Glavine faces the Mets for the first time since 2002:

Yunel Escobar SS

Mark Kotsay CF

Chipper Jones 3B

Mark Teixeira 1B

Brian McCann C

Jeff Francoeur RF

Kelly Johnson 2B

Gregor Blanco LF

Tom Glavine LHP (1-1, 4.41)
