After three consecutive 2-1 losses for the first time in club history, the Mets are hoping Pedro Martinez (pictured) can stop the bleeding here today at Petco Park against the Padres in his second start back from the DL. Right fielder Ryan Church is out of the lineup again because of lingering effects from his most recent concussion, and Willie Randolph is sitting catcher Brian Schneider in favor of Raul Casanova with the Mets taking on a left-hander in Wil Ledezma.
Aside from that, Randolph is going with his usual order and hoping it can somehow break out of a slump that has seen the 30-31 Mets score just three runs in their past 33 innings. Here is that lineup:
Jose Reyes SS
Luis Castillo 2B
David Wright 3B
Carlos Beltran CF
Damion Easley LF
Carlos Delgado 1B
Raul Casanova C
Endy Chavez RF
Pedro Martinez RHP (1-0, 6.75)
The 27-37 Padres, who have set a major-league record by winning four consecutive 2-1 games, are going with this look:
Jody Gerut CF
Edgar Gonzalez 2B
Brian Giles RF
Adrian Gonzalez 1B
Kevin Kouzmanoff 3B
Paul McAnulty LF
Khalil Greene SS
Luke Carlin C
Wil Ledezma LHP (0-2, 4.43)
