Gunnar Henderson gained his first major league home run, but lost his helmet in the process.

The Orioles’ star infield prospect, batting sixth and playing third base against the Guardians at Progressive Field after being called up on Wednesday, took righty Triston McKenzie deep in his second at-bat in the top of the fourth inning. The solo shot traveled 429 feet halfway up the right field stands with an exit velocity of 107.1 mph to give Baltimore a 2-0 lead  

The ferocity of Henderson’s swing on the McKenzie slider caused his helmet to spin toward his face and quickly fall of his head behind him despite the 21-year-old best attempts to catch it. He rounded the bases without it as cameras caught his family cheering him on from the stands. Henderson flew out in his first at-bat.

Henderson, who the Orioles selected in the second round of the 2019 draft out of high school, is the No. 2 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. He was hitting .297 with 19 home run, 76 RBIs and a .946 OPS over stints in Double and Triple A this season.
