If this was Trey Mancini’s last at-bat as an Oriole at Camden Yards, it was a memorable one.
Mancini, the 30-year-old DH, has been listed in various trade rumors the past several weeks. Thursday was Baltimore’s final home game before the Aug. 2 MLB trade deadline, so it was an emotional moment for Mancini and the fans.
In the bottom of the eighth, with the O’s up 1-0 on the Rays and with one out and a runner on second, Mancini hit what would ordinarily be a fly ball to right. However, Josh Lowe lost the ball in the sun. The ball went off his face and careened too far away from him for there to be any play.
Mancini huffed around the bases for an inside-the-park home run, putting the surging Orioles up 3-0.
