Things are looking bright for the Phillies.

In Game 2 of the 2022 NLCS against the Padres on Wednesday at Petco Park, Matt Vierling sent a second-inning fly ball into right field that Juan Soto lost in the sun.

The miscue allowed Nick Castellanos to score from third base for a 2-0 lead and moved Alec Bohm up from second — and left Vierling on second.

Soto, San Diego’s big trade deadline acquisition from the Nationals, was left shaking his head.

A single by Edmundo Sosa scored Bohm, while Vierling crossed the plate thanks to Kyle Schwarber’s groundout.

When all the dust settled, the Phillies had themselves a 4-0 lead through the top of the second inning — though back-to-back homers by Brandon Drury and Josh Bell in the bottom of the inning pulled the Padres within two.
