Padres fans won’t be seeing Fernando Tatis Jr. this season, nor his bobblehead.

The star shortstop was on his way back to the team from a broken wrist and San Diego was set to giveaway Tatis bobbleheads to fans at a Sept. 7 home game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Padres nixed the plan with Tatis now suspended 80 games after MLB announced he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug last week.

Instead, fans will be getting Juan Soto T-shirts based on the City Connect jerseys they wear on Friday nights, the team announced Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Tatis, who had not played this season after suffering a wrist injury in the offseason, tested positive for the anabolic steroid Clostebol, which he said was due to taking a medication to treat ringworm that contains the band substance.

The Padres, who enter play Tuesday two games ahead of the Brewers for the final NL wild-card spot, acquired Soto from the Nationals in a blockbuster trade on Aug. 2, just prior to the MLB trade deadline.

While Padres fan are hoping to have a reason to wear a new Soto shirt deep into October, they will have to wait until next season to see Tatis and his bobblehead.
