Pedro Martinez appears to be just two or three weeks away after throwing a 55-pitch simulated game in Port St. Lucie today. GM Omar Minaya said Martinez threw all of his pitches and fielded a bunt, both of which the club considers very encouraging signs. Minaya said Martinez will throw at least one more simulated game, then make at least one minor-league rehab start before rejoining the Mets (most likely in early June). Pedro has been sidelined since straining his left hamstring April 1 just four innings into his first start of the season.
