MIAMI — The Mets decided El Duque wasn’t healthy enough to be their No. 5 starter out of spring training, naming Mike Pelfrey instead. Pelfrey was tabbed over Orlando Hernandez despite an 8.14 ERA this spring.

El Duque pitched well in his last start Friday against the Orioles but was feeling too much discomfort in his right foot from a bunion and toe-ligament surgery.

Hernandez was put on the 15-day DL retroactive to March 29 and will get at least two minor-league starts to build up arm strength.

Pelfrey’s first start will be this Saturday against the Braves in Atlanta, and he will get at least one more after that.
