The Mets released two veterans, outfielder Wily Mo Pena and infielder Javier Valentin, from Triple-A Buffalo today while activating newly claimed left-handed reliever Arturo Lopez to the Bisons’ roster. Pena had five homers and 21 RBIs in 41 games for Buffalo, while Valentin had been mired on the disabled list recently. I’m hearing Pena might have asked for his release after being passed over in favor of Nick Evans for a promotion last week. (7:30 P.M.
