As expected, Oliver Perez declined the Mets’ offer of arbitration at tonight’s deadline. That means Perez is free to sign anywhere (perhaps even right back with the Mets), while the Mets will now get a pair of draft picks next summer as compensation because Perez is a Type A free agent.
