As excitement continues to swirl around the Mets since Steve Cohen became majority owner of the organization, one of the team’s biggest stars is adding to the buzz.
Pete Alonso took to Twitter Wednesday to address Mets fans and wish them all a “lovely and blessed Holiday Season,” while adding that he’s been on a hiatus from social media. The 2019 NL Rookie of the Year also expressed how much he’s looking forward to the upcoming season.
“It’s been a fun offseason up to this point!” Alonso wrote. “I can’t wait to see what the team looks like when we get to camp. 2021 is going to be a phenomenal year. We’re going the right direction with this vaccine which will ultimately lead to normalcy and fans coming back to the ball park!
“I can’t wait to see all y’all getting rowdy and creating the ultimate home field advantage at Citi. I’ve been working my ass off and will always continue to do so. I will be more than ready to be great and entertain you all. I cannot wait until I’m back holding down the 1 bag and have my feet planted in the batters box.”
