Noteworthy items during the Mets’ spring training practice on Friday in Port St. Lucie:

D-lightful

Pete Alonso might have been at his happiest during an infield drill in which he charged in, fielded a soft grounder and fired a strike to Brett Baty at third base.

The first baseman let out a celebratory yell and received some applause.

Easy does it

Omar Narvaez finished a live batting practice at-bat against righty Jorge Lopez with a hit and laughs.

The lefty-swinging catcher tried to check his swing and made accidental contact, sending the ball down the third-base line. He pumped his fist coming off the field.

Caught my eye

Carlos Mendoza does not sit back and watch his assistant coaches lead drills.

The new manager hit fly balls to outfielders before conducting an infield drill, smacking sharp ground balls to what amounted to his A-group of infielders.

Afterward, he grabbed a mitt and served as the de facto first baseman for the group.

Saturday’s schedule

Tylor Megill will start the Mets’ Grapefruit League opener against the Cardinals at 1:10 p.m. at Clover Park.
