There is a strong possibility that Andy Pettitte will make a minor league rehab start for Trenton Wednesday in the Eastern League playoff series against New Hampshire.

However, Joe Girardi will wait until Monday to make that official.

“I will be able to give that you tomorrow,’’ Girardi said of Pettitte’s plan. “I still wanted to get with (trainer) Gino (Monahan) and (Brian) Cash.’’

Pettitte, who pitched three innings in a simulated game Saturday, said he will work in the bullpen Monday.

The veteran lefty who hasn’t pitched since July 18 due to a left groin problem, was dealing with a tad more body soreness than usual.

“A little bit more just because I pushed it so hard I think,’’ Pettitte said of the 50-pitch max effort outing Saturday.

If Pettitte pitches for Trenton (Double-A) Wednesday his next outing could be in the big leagues although that will depend on how he does if he throws Wednesday.
