Just in time for tomorrow’s series opener against the Mets, the Phillies announced that closer Brad Lidge will be activated from the disabled list.

The 33-year-old has been recovering from offseason elbow surgery then pitched in the minors, where he was 0-1 with a 5.19 ERA in his rehab stint, during which he spent time with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Double-A Reading and Single-A Clearwater.

To make room for Lidge, the Phillies sent lefty reliever Antonio Bastardo to Lehigh Valley.

Lidge tossed seven scoreless innings in his last six appearances and announced himself “ready to go” on Tuesday.

After a nearly flawless 2008, Lidge is coming off of an awful season, when he blew 11 saves and had a 7.21 ERA. Lidge also struggled in the World Series against the Yankees.
