Is this what Gary Sanchez is? Do the Yankees need to trade him? Should Kyle Higashioka be the full-time catcher? Should we be worried about Aaron Judge and his lower body stiffness?
Lots of questions to answer on the latest “Pinstripe Pod” with Chris Shearn and Jeff Nelson, featuring a chat with The Ringer podcast host and Yankees fan, John Jastremski.
*Note: this episode was recorded before Thursday’s Yankees loss*
Pinstripe Pod Opening Segment with Chris, Jeff & Jake:
- YANKEES-ORIOLES SERIES: Great to have the Orioles in the same division and pick up wins against them. Need to beat the teams you should. This is where the team can gain confidence playing them and the Tigers. The Dark Knight Rises again as Matt Harvey beat the Yankees.
- SANCHEZ VS HIGGY: Pitching is much better with Higgy behind the plate and he’s hitting better. It makes things easier when you are more comfortable with a catcher. Sanchez may need a change of scenery from New York.

- ROTATION: Pitchers getting deeper into games with Higgy behind the plate. This may be what Sanchez is. Can hit some homers, but goes in deep funks. Domingo German has pitched well.
- JUDGE/STANTON: Frustrating seeing Judge not be able to play every day without an injury. Stanton is only a DH and they are stuck with him. If the Yankees did it over again, they would not have got Stanton.
- YANKEE FAN: Memories watching Nellie’s Yankees as a kid in the ’90s. Nellie not getting booed in NY and fans being passionate here. Leaving WFAN for the podcast world and having normal hours.
