Stop the presses: The Yankees have won a series. After a brutal 6-11 start to the season that had many fans hitting the panic button, the Yankees went to Cleveland and took three of four games to improve to 9-12. They now get four games against the Orioles as they try to reach .500 and turn the ship around.
To talk about the series win, the upcoming series in Baltimore and everything in Yankees land, we bring you a new episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with Chris Shearn and Jeff Nelson, featuring an interview with the legendary Darryl Strawberry.
Pinstripe Pod Opening Segment with Chris, Jeff & Jake:
- WINNING A SERIES: Bats came alive finally, can’t blame the cold weather anymore. Need to go out now and win another series. Take three of four from Orioles. Yankees need to grind out more at-bats and make it tough on opposing pitchers.
- STARTING PITCHING: Domingo German had a great outing. Jameson Taillon is not getting deep into games. Deivi Garcia will make season debut Monday.

Darryl Strawberry Interview: Yankees outfielder (1995-99), four-time World Series champion (1986, 1996, 1998, 1999)
- YANKEES MEMORIES: Breaking down the 1998 brawl against the Orioles. 1998 Yankees reminded him of 1986 Mets as they blew teams off the field. George Steinbrenner let them have fun. Joe Torre was laid-back, which helped.
- TODAY’S GAME: Teams need to be more fundamentally sound and not rely on analytics. The current Yankees need to be in a better place. All the analytics stuff is overrated.
- METS MEMORIES: Should have won more than just 1986. Coming to the Yankees was special. Felt their ownership was better than Mets. Was special to win with Doc and company in 1986 and then win in 1996 with Doc and David Cone.
